USDA New ERA Cohort Call

This is a call of our New ERA cohorts to share experience and strategies around New ERA. This event is for electric cooperative staff and their designees only.

Items to consider for next steps of this cohort group:

1. USDA in general can provide the rules of the road and programmatic guidance, but they cannot provide you with advice on how to proceed with your projects. The group can provide tips amongst the range of strategies that can lead to greater efficiency and more effective implementation.
2. There will inevitably be government staff transition one way or another between 2024 and 2031 – this cohort can help assure that technical implementation support maintains continuity over time.
3. We understand that some key elements of the program remain uncertain, like NEPA/environmental reviews, CBPs, and general intricacies of the Federal system. This cohort can identify and navigate these issues.
4. There are external stakeholders who want to both support and influence the program and having a space to discuss the program can help inform those opportunities.
5. $40B in projects will need to be completed by 2031 – a lot of logistical steps are ahead.
