La Plata Electric – Community Power: All-Electric Homes Showcase in Pagosa Springs, CO
La Plata Electric Association (LPEA) helps fund Colorado’s Affordable Residential Energy Program (CARE), which provides weatherization and energy efficiency rebates for income-qualified members. LPEA partners with Four Corners Office for Resource Efficiency to administer the program at no cost to members. Eligible upgrades may include insulation, refrigerators, LEDs, shower heads, air sealing, and qualifying furnaces and water heaters.
LPEA also works with Habitat for Humanity to install electric appliances and has secured pilot funding to provide income-qualified members with grid-integrated air-source heat pump water heaters.
LPEA’s efforts are united with BEL’s Weatherization/Electrification Together initiative, a national effort to combine home weatherization and electrification to make life better for low and moderate-income customers, the environment, and the electric grid. LPEA views W/E Together as a way to promote beneficial electrification while taking a more holistic approach to fixing homes, resulting in more efficient, more comfortable, safer, and healthier homes.
