Our Mission

Facilitate electrification, when it is beneficial, by promoting understanding among key stakeholders, championing necessary grid infrastructure, and developing actionable resources to accelerate implementation.

Our Vision

A future where electrification is broadly implemented, when beneficial, to drive economic development, meet consumer needs, and achieve environmental goals.

Our Story

The Beneficial Electrification League (BEL) was established in 2018 as a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization to unite diverse coalition of organizations committed to making beneficial electrification a core strategy for addressing today’s energy, environmental, and economic challenges.

Since then, BEL has emerged as a recognized national leader in rural electric technical assistance among small and mid-sized communities across the country.

On behalf of rural electric cooperatives, municipal utilities, tribes, and local governments, BEL is in the process of helping implement billions of dollars of electric infrastructure investment that supports their unique electrification needs.

Through BEL’s state-wide chapters and regional events, BEL has convened thousands of key stakeholders to facilitate the sharing of information and best practices, development of local partnerships, and to showcase innovation and success.

BEL is a highly rated nonprofit organization, receiving a four-star rating from Charity Navigator and a Platinum rating from GuideStar.
